What to do in a dental emergency: a step-by-step guide

By Dr. Selorm Agbeko · 4 min read · 1 April 2025

Knocked-out tooth: pick it up by the crown (not the root), rinse gently with milk if dirty, and put it back in the socket. If you can't, keep it in milk and get to us within 30 minutes.

Severe swelling: don't wait. Facial swelling can escalate quickly. Call our emergency line.

Broken tooth with pain: rinse with warm salt water, apply a cold compress, and take paracetamol — not aspirin, which can worsen bleeding.
