How often should you visit the dentist? A guide for Ghanaian families
By Dr. Kwame Amoah · 5 min read · 14 February 2025
The standard advice is a check-up and cleaning every six months. But that advice was written for average-risk adults in temperate climates. Here in Ghana — where a sugar-rich diet, hot weather and hard tap water all play a role — your ideal interval may be shorter.
High-risk patients (smokers, diabetics, those with a history of gum disease) benefit from 3–4 month intervals. Low-risk patients with excellent home care can safely stretch to 9–12 months.
At Amoah Dental we personalise your recall interval based on your risk profile — not a one-size-fits-all rule.
